Public Education at the Crossroads

About the Blog

I am a retired North Carolina public school teacher concerned about the challenges and issues facing public education today, especially policy decisions at the federal and state levels promoting market-based models designed to privatize and undermine public education in the name of school reform. My philosophical belief is that public education is the cornerstone of our democracy. It is the engine that drives the political endeavor to educate all our children. Taxpayer dollars must fund the excellent schools we deserve, not the unfettered, free market business models that benefit a bottom line. My goal is to open an active and open dialog about the issues facing public education. I will post writings every few weeks.
